We cut out different types of snowflakes then sponge painted them to create "cool" artwork.

The Polar Regions
This term we have learned that Polar Bears live in the Arctic and Penguins live in Antarctica. They are at opposite ends of the Earth and will never meet.
We have discovered that Antarctica is a continent where as the Arctic is floating ice.
We have explored the clothing necessary for visiting Antarctica to stay warm.
At the top of the Antarctica food chain is the Killer Whale which feeds on seals and penguins.
We have written Polar Bear reports to tell others all about the Polar Bear.
At the moment we are discovering the 17 different species of Penguin found in Antarctica.

Political Issues
Students were asked to discuss a political issue with their parents. Students were then asked to create a Keynote presentation on their Macbooks.
As a part of their presentation students we required to introduce the issue to their peers. They outlined a minimum of five facts relating to the issue. The Keynote presentations included text, pictures, photographs, build in effects, video clips, music and audio recording.
Their presentations needed to convey their opinion on the issue and attempt to persuade the viewer.
The quality of the presentations were outstanding!

Parliament House
Last week the Year Six classes went to Parliament House. After a quick tour of Parliament House we learned how preferential voting works and all about election day. We were able to sit in both the lower house and upper house chambers. The mace and the black rod were very interesting to learn about. The most enjoyable part of the excursion was the role-play. We loved sitting in the members' chairs and acting out a bill being passed in the lower house.
Thank you to our parent helpers who attended the excursion also.
